Blog the Second: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

So here's the thing; people cosplay if you like it or not. It's a fact of life. Granted, some people pick the wrong character of are just plain unattractive, but arguably it's about having fun.

Weight seems to be a sensitive issue in cosplay, EGL, etc. Lets face it, there aren't many characters that are fat, and if they are, they usually have a bad reputation. Take for instance, the Major from Hellsing; short, fat, Nazi. The Witch of the Waste from Howls Moving Castle? Unattractive, fat, and well, evil. Though I have to admit, her character did turn out to be somewhat forgivable, but if you're fat but want to cosplay a 'figure appropriate' outfit, let's face it, you're fucked sideways.

But that's not to say that people of larger proportions can't cosplay wonderfully;  in fact there are two talented ladies that serve as quite an inspiration to me.

Someone once recommended to my sister that she cosplay 'chibi' versions of characters, since chibi proportions are stubbier and fatter. I'm not going to lie, it's a good idea, but you aren't stuck with many options, and it does get old after a while.

Weight does matter in regards to cosplay. Essentially, all one is doing is modeling.  It's pretty rare that one meets a cosplayer who actually, god forbid, cosplays.

But just becuase you're skinny doesn't mean you're going to be attractiveNow, normally I would say 'ready the eyebleach', but frankly, I'm not comfortable with a 'slander' lawsuit for posting pics I stole from /cgl/, but there is one that I can rightfully post, in the name of art;

Believe it or not, it does improve the picture.

But not to hark too terribly on people. Bless them for trying, or at least bless those who actually tried.
But most importantly bless those who are aware. If you know you look like a fatass, don't pretend you don't look like a fatass. Just carry yourself a little more dignified, suck in that god damned gut, and remember to be gracious. Same goes for you skinny little bastards.  No one likes and arrogant fuckhead, that's what makes people seem more unattractive than they are.

Let's not forget the infamous Johnny Otaku and HellsingRipVanWinkle.

Crazy, fat, arrogant.

And you find yourself hoping that they're just epic trolls, becuase you have to admit, that would be a pretty damned epic troll.

Blog The First: A Snarky and Unadulterated Introduction

This blog is not going to be about he mindless ravings of some pretentious moron, and most certainly not about the pathetic life of the fat person that I am, but rather, as the title has promised, a snarky and unadulterated view on the Anime world and the subculture it has generated.
That's right; I'm talking about cosplay, Anime nerds in general, EGL/Lolita's, even Steampunk/Cyberpunk and such to a certain degree.

Now, I'm known around the interwebz and IRL for being honest and blunt to the point of cruelty.
While I myself am an anime nerd of merciless degree, I rather enjoy snarking on other people, particularly the ones who view themselves as the epitome of perfection.
This does not, however, mean that this is going to be another /drama/ rant copy and pasted from /cgl/, but there are so many wonderful and juicy resources to draw on from there.

So sit back, relax, and let me be your Sei Shonnagan on this fabulous and wonderfully dramatic adventure.
